This notice explains how Wheeler Electrical Services uses personal information when you visit our website or contact us about our electrical services. It also explains the optional map on our contact page and the cookie used to remember your preference.
Who we are and how to contact us
Wheeler Electrical Services is responsible for deciding how we use your personal information (the data controller).
Wheeler Electrical Services6 Laburnum Street, Wollaston, Amblecote, Dudley,
West Midlands, England, DY8 4NX, United Kingdom

Please use these details for privacy questions, requests about your information or a data protection complaint.
Information we receive
If you call or email us, we receive the information you choose to share. This may include your name, telephone number, email address, property address, the electrical work you are asking about, and any messages or attachments you send. Please only provide information that is relevant to your enquiry.
Our website has no contact form. The telephone and email links open your chosen calling or email application. Clicking an email link does not send an email automatically.
When you visit the website, our hosting provider, Netlify, receives technical information needed to deliver and protect it. This can include your IP address, the page requested, the time of the request, and browser or device information. This information may be recorded in operational or security logs.
If you allow the contact-page map, OpenStreetMap receives your IP address, browser and device information, request times, our website's domain and map requests.
We do not use analytics or advertising tools, including tracking pixels, to monitor your use of this website. OpenStreetMap's separate processing is explained below. We do not use information collected through this website to make decisions about you by automated means.
Why we use your information
- To discuss work, provide a quote or arrange our services: we use the contact and property details you give us to take steps at your request before entering into a contract, or to fulfil a contract with you.
- To respond to other enquiries and keep relevant correspondence: we rely on our legitimate interests in communicating with people who contact us, managing enquiries and resolving questions. Where you contact us for a business or another person, this also allows us to deal with that enquiry.
- To operate and secure the website: we rely on our legitimate interests in making our services available online and preventing misuse, faults and security incidents.
- To enable the optional map: we rely on your consent before connecting your browser to OpenStreetMap. You can withdraw this permission at any time using the cookie settings.
- To meet a legal requirement: where the law requires us to retain or disclose relevant information, our lawful basis is compliance with that legal obligation.
You do not have to send us an enquiry. If you ask for a quote or electrical work, we will need enough contact and property information to understand and respond to your request. Without it, we may be unable to help with the enquiry.
Service providers and sharing
We use Netlify to host this website and Gmail, provided by Google, to receive and send email. These providers process the information needed to deliver their services. Your own telephone or email provider also processes communications you choose to send.
Netlify explains its own processing in its Privacy Statement. Its Data Processing Agreement covers the personal data it processes on behalf of its customers. Google's handling of information in its services is explained in the Google Privacy Policy.
The OpenStreetMap Foundation provides the optional map as an independent data controller, not a processor acting on our behalf. See its Privacy Policy and services and map tiles privacy FAQ for details.
We may disclose relevant information if required by law or where necessary to establish, exercise or defend a legal claim. We do not sell the personal information you provide through website enquiries.
Information processed outside the UK
Netlify and Google operate internationally, so information may be processed outside the UK, including in the United States. Their published privacy and data protection terms explain the locations and safeguards that apply to their services.
Netlify's Data Processing Agreement describes its use of the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and contractual safeguards where applicable. Google's Privacy Policy explains the transfer mechanisms it uses. These arrangements depend on the provider and the processing involved. You can contact us for information about the safeguards relevant to your enquiry.
If you allow the map, OpenStreetMap's servers and global content delivery network may process connection information outside the UK. The linked OpenStreetMap notices explain its arrangements.
How long information is kept
We keep enquiry information for as long as it is needed to respond, discuss a quote and complete any agreed follow-up. When deciding whether it is still needed, we consider whether the enquiry is active, whether work has been arranged, and whether there is an unresolved question or complaint.
If an enquiry becomes a job, relevant correspondence may form part of the customer record. The retention period then depends on the work undertaken, applicable record-keeping obligations and any need to deal with a dispute or legal claim. We delete information when it is no longer needed for those purposes.
Hosting and security information is retained according to the purpose of the record and the hosting service's retention arrangements. Records connected with a security incident may be needed until that incident is resolved. The cookie below has a separate maximum lifetime of 180 days.
OpenStreetMap controls how long it keeps information it receives; its policy applies to those records.
Your data protection rights
Under UK data protection law, you can ask us to:
- Tell you whether we hold your personal information and give you a copy.
- Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Delete your information or restrict how we use it, where the relevant conditions apply.
- Stop processing based on legitimate interests where your particular circumstances give you grounds to object. We must consider your objection and may continue only where the law allows it.
- Provide information you supplied in a portable format, or transfer it to another organisation where technically feasible, when the processing is automated and based on your consent or a contract.
If we rely on your consent for a particular use, you can withdraw it at any time. This does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal. Changing the website's cookie preference does not delete email correspondence or other information we need to handle an enquiry.
These rights are subject to legal conditions and exemptions. Please contact us using the details above to make a request. We may need enough information to confirm your identity and locate the relevant records. We will explain if a legal exception applies to your request.
Questions and complaints
If you are concerned about how we have used your information, please contact us so we can look into it. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator. Visit the ICO complaints page for guidance and ways to contact them.
